Kohler's visit: Part 2

Our good friends the Kohlers often visit us from Heber. We love it when they come in town. Each Ivie family member has a little friend and we always have a blast livin' the St. George life.  Even the mommy's are able to get away for an afternoon.

This weekend was filled with lots of loves.

Just enjoying a cool snack on a hot day.

Life is good.

Zumba

I attended my first Zumba class this evening at the local community center. I thought that I should see what this new aerobic craze entailed. 2 weeks ago, after a swim with Noelle, I could hear the thump of music resonating through the locker room walls. After getting dressed, I followed the music to an overcrowded gym... that is not an understatement. An estrogen filled room, ages 12 to 82, were sweating and gyrating their hips to the beat. Any workout that would gather such a crowd must be the most thrilling workout.. I needed to try it.. Babysitter check, spandex, check, water bottle, check, hip thrusting capability... uhhhh. I used to dance, I thought that I could ease right into this popular class, boy was I wrong!!! I started out confident, music was good, the instructor gave a great pep talk. E.A.S.Y. (keep in mind I used to be certified to teach aerobics) The music began. What the heck!! I like to dance but 60 minutes of pelvic thrusting and hip gyrations are better left to yourself or your hubby. I can appreciate how everyone was feeling the music, and trying to better themselves through exercise. Apparently I didn't realize that I am white and lets face it my hips can't "get low on the flo" get low on the flo".  At 25 years old,  I nearly threw out my back.  I think it is great exercise. I was ready to die 30 minutes in. I just don't feel like spreading eagle, while squatting, aggressively circling my hips, while waving my arms in the air... all the while, from the second level 5 teenage boys 7 children and 2 sets of old people are watching you... not me specifically, let be honest here,... but watching the crowd. I would like to blame the instructor for her latino/islander heritage, her perfectly swiveling hips and effortless moves. She made it look so easy. Not even breaking a sweat. I actually thought that I might be dancing just like her until I realized that there wasn't a single mirror on any of the walls and my fellow classmates looked as ridiculous as I felt. I am not going to say I won't attend again, I feel like a burned a few billion calories, which I ate back.... thanks cold stone leftovers but, I will say that I will be practicing my moves in a full length mirror before I return.

Month 16

Just stopping to smell the roses

It finally happened!!! You are getting your front teeth! You still put everything in your mouth including your crayons... we are still working on that. Mimi and Papi got you sidewalk chalk for Easter, which also tends to make it into your mouth,  and you love putting your mark on the back porch. You are definitely a girlie-girl. You love princess things, jewelry, and combing mommy's hair. You hate when your hands are dirty or sticky and refuse to walk on sand or grass. You have no problem bare-footing your way to the jump jump.. which is starting to lose your interest. It is starting to warm up and you love to swim at the community center. You aren't very daring on the kiddie water slide yet, but that will come later. You are a natural swimmer; kicking your legs and moving your arms, as you become more independent. I know you won't want mommy's help soon.  You have mastered most all of the animal sounds although you still don't know what sound a cat makes... or just refuse to do it. Your favorite lately is the piggy noise, which I never get sick of. Noelle, you are able to more easily communicate what you want and if there is one thing you want lately it is POPCORN! It is definitely a favorite in the house right now.  We have visitors almost every weekend and you just love the constant attention. Aunt Tiffany is definitely your favorite right now. Usually, while I am doing dishes you will find your cell phone and make a few calls... all of which sound very important. Pacing the hall with identical mannerisms as your father and I, along with the continuous "Hi!" into the pink device, makes me think that we spend way to much time on our phones. You are my little friend, we do everything together and I wouldn't have it any other way. Walks, splash pad, swimming, grocery shopping, pulling weeds, putting on make up, windexing the mirrors, swiffering the floor, and sorting laundry. I am constantly amazed by how bright you are. You study the world around you and learn new things everyday.

These are a few of your favorite things.

 Popcorn

Whole grain blueberry Eggo waffles in the morning, with a side of bad bed head   :)

Aunt Tiffany and Uncle Sean brought these when they last visited and you haven't take them off since.

You also love hiking with your mommy or "MA!" as you would say.

Not only do you love putting things in your mouth, but you love playing on Grandpa's pool table

Anything sweet and cold! A teether's best friend. Thanks mimi!!

Early Easter Egg Hunt

Noelle's First Easter Egg Hunt... She was a natural.

My good friend, Marci Eves, invite us to her family's easter egg hunt in Hurricane. It was Noelle's first time at an easter egg hunt. I wasn't sure if she would grasp the concept or if this photo opp. would end in failure. Candy, friends... you can't lose! Noelle saw the other kids racing for the eggs, she looked around and began to follow. She loved the idea of putting colorful object into a bag because the best part is that you can dump the bag out.. which she did, many times over. She had little interest in the candy within, that was my favorite part. We all had a wonderful time, and the weather was perfect. Thanks again for the invite Marce!!!
